Chapungu Exhibit And Butterfly Conservatory- Powell Gardens

UPDATED: Finally this last weekend everyone was well enough to go out and about. I had several things on my summer list so I did some digging and we chose Powell Gardens. It was a great weekend to be outside and this happened to be the last weekend to catch a glimpse of the imported butterfly conservatories.

The gardens themselves are fabulous! Each season Powell Gardens plants what's suppose to be blooming and thriving. They have flowers, trees and bushes everywhere! The ponds are just amazing.

Powell Gardens is currently hosting The Great African Sculpture Exhibit Chapungu. The stone sculptures are quite amazing and some are very large in size, weighing 500-5,000 pounds. The stone sculptures tell Shona stories from Zimbabwe. Stories of man, family, myth and legend.

The girls had a great time. Izabel, being a walking toddler, had the most experiences out of the stroller. She and Daddy did some butterfly catching and releasing and Izzy was able to walk the butterfly conservatories for a close up view of the the most beautiful butterflies you've ever seen. There was color everywhere and I am sure Emmy took it all in just the same.

As you can tell from my photo gallery, I had one heck of a good time photographing at Powell Gardens. My camera got a real work out and I am very pleased with the end photos. There was so much to see and take in but we didn't nearly hit half the park. I look forward to going back in the fall.

Photos can be found HERE. Enjoy!
