Macro Monday - HUGE Dandelion

Daddy works at an office located across from a few fields. Last week he came across this enormous dandelion. Huge, as in the size of a softball!! It was really neat and I had to tote the Nikon along for proof. There are several of these dandelions almost ready to bloom at the same time, I am hoping to go back and get a few more.

Had I seen the bug while I was shooting this weed, I may have focused in on him. However, I wasn't aware he was there until proofing the photos.

What a great series of shots. I'm not sure exactly what they are called but years ago my grandma used to pick these right at this stage and spray paint them gold or bronze and stick them in a vase. They lasted a long time like that. I don't think the bug would like it though.

Wow, I've never seen a dandelion anywhere near that big - that's going to spread a lot of weed seeds! Great photography! I took a picture of a beautiful iris in my yard the other day (so what's new, eh?) and didn't see the bee on it until I enlarged it on the screen.
