A Visit With Santa Claus

Friday night we had a couple of errands to run. Nothing too strenuous. By the time our last stop came, we were near the mall. I told Daddy that we should stop in and see how busy he was. Last year we had to skip the mall Santa because it was about a 4-5 hour wait to see him. Seriously!

So, we stopped at the mall with the realization that Santa was going to be too busy and that it was probably a good thing because the girls weren't dressed nicely. Just everyday clothes.

Low and behold, Santa sat alone in his chair gazing out at all the mall walkers passing him by. Not a child in site. We had to see him now. We've never seen Santa so lonely. So despite Izabel's hair not being done and both of them not dressed all pretty and dressy, we went ahead for the shot.

Izabel knew just what she was going to ask him for; she'd been practicing. A horse and a doll. Oh, and candy canes. LOL! She had no problem walking up to the man in red and plopping up on his lap.

Emily on the hand...She was NOT going to go for this. I knew that she probably wouldn't. She's very close to me and has developed quite a bout of stranger apprehension. She was very nervous and just got a look of shock on her face. She didn't scream or anything but her eyes filled up with tears. She fought them back until after the shot was taken.

I have included the last 2 years of Santa photos. I hope to be prepared enough in the coming years to make the mall Santa a tradition. He's been our local Santa since I was little.

After we saw Santa, both girls ran to the train depot and rode the Christmas train. Even Emily got on and sat there like a big girl. So much fun to be a little girl!

It turned out wonderfully and they were probably much more comfortable! I can tell Emmy was starting to tear up. On our picture on my header, Emma had been crying very hard.

Amazing to see the progression in just a few short years!

Mine have yet to sit on Santa's lap without freaking out.

A 4 to 5 hour wait?!? Holy crud!
I'm glad you got in ahead of the crowd -- your girls look great, and only slightly traumatized.
That's better than any of our kids ever did.

How fun that these photos all turned out so well. The kids all see happy to be with Sandy, but that's not always the case.
Hugs and blessings,
