Izabel is doing okay with the cast. She's learning how to walk with it but in my opinion, she seems to still be in some pain. Motrin is all she is receiving. I think she's caught a cold bug of some sort too. (I was half expecting that with all of the large hospital visits in a week.)Needless to say the nights, especially last night, have become hours of crying and discomfort. It's almost as if she just gets to sleep and then she wakes up crying saying it hurts. Yesterday was a rough day for her as far as discomfort. She even took a 6 hour nap. (That's no typo!) Even Gama tried to wake her to no avail. Please continue to keep Izabel in your thoughts. This just may be the most trying 3 weeks to date.
Izabel and Emily had another PATS meeting on Friday afternoon. No playgroup was held because of Pre-School Screening, but we will go next week. The meeting went well and both girls managed to stay awake. Emily did some rolling and sitting up on her own. We also had a demonstration of a Pat-Mat. It's a plastic baggy filled with water and a bunch of shapes and sparkles. It lays flat on the floor and allows Emily to pat and hit the bag; the objects getting her attention. It's really neat and Emily loved it. She would pick it up and shake it around and give the biggest grin when she caught the objects in her line of sight. She also played the Ball-In-The-Bowl. As seen in the picture below. It's just a neat little game to play to get Emily to grab for the ball as it's in motion around the ball. She loves this game as well and really tries to get the ball. She even grabs at the bowl and dumps the ball out.
Emily is really progressing very well and s becoming increasingly active everyday. We are so proud of her and look forward to what's coming.
Izabel loves her PATS meeting with Rosie. She's so excited on the days Rosie comes and asks for her all day. This week we worked on Fine Motor Skills. Playdough was the choice of working material and Izabel couldn't have been more excited! She rolled it and balled it, pinched each piece between her fingers and used shape cutters such as hearts, flowers and circles. It was home-made playdough as well, not store bought. This was the non-edible mix but I did acquire the edible recipe as well which is made with peanut butter. We can't wait to try that one out!
We also learned and sang a few new songs that have hand motions associated with them because Izabel is so-- into singing right now. She can sing Twinkle Twinkle, Old McDonald, Patty Cake, Her ABC's, and Ring Around The Rosie. We are working on Bingo and Itsy Bitsy Spider. Izabel was nice and calm this visit so she was more than happy to sing her ABC's and Twinkle Twinkle for Rosie!
Izabel is one smart cookie and we are excited every time something new comes though her sweet little lips.
Another PATS meeting is scheduled next Friday!

so. amazingly. precious.
It's crazy that all they can have for pain is Motrin, but I guess you wouldn't want to do more than that. I'm glad it's seems that you all are having fun in this midst of everything.. you all radiate sunshine and happiness.
HUGS
Oops, left the comment that belongs here on the previous one. Oh well. I love the wall hanging.
Why does it have to be a PATS meeting? Why can't it be a JETS meeting? Does Greg nkow about this?
